TN: 2006 Rudius Cabernet Sauvignon (USA, California, Napa Valley)

after my first bottle was corked, i tried this one with trepidation…took 2 days to open and showed its colors only on the third day…a potent wine yet elegant, smooth texture accompanied by dark berries, currant and finishes with mocha/chocolate and powerful, gum tingling tannins - lots of flavor but always felt tight and not fully revealing - i find this wine mysterious - what’s its future? I just popped an '06 Grenache and found it a bit tight at first and much better on day two. I’ll hold off at least 3-4yrs before I pop a Cab.

I loved the wine, but for me the wine required a rib-eye for optimum enjoyment as the wine was quite massive on the palate. My best advise is to move it at the back of the cellar.

I think I am the only person in America who is not infatuated with these wines. I had a few 2006 Syrahs, and found them undrinkable.

Everyone else seems to love this stuff.

i know some people that don’t like em. I like their grenache and cab over the syrah’s tho. I’ve had great and bad experiences with em. But the cab I <3 @the price

Thanks for the note. It sounds like the Cabernets need to age, and that’s fine with me since I prefer to drink my Cabernet with some bottle age. Now the Rudius Syrah on the other hand, I had a hard time not opening my other bottle. I may need to find some more…
