TN: 2006 Rostaing Classique CR

I Bought a bunch of this on close out for $50NZD ($35USD) a bottle,
Decanted it but poured a glass straight away, great length and sophisticated tannins, muted palate but very complete and lovely.
1 hour in and the nose has opened up a little and the mid palate has added some bacon fat and caramel.
2 and a half hours in and the whole band starts to play, Im really liking this bottle and loving the price.
3 hours in and I am on the internet ordering another case before the sale ends.
I have had a bit of bottle variation with this producer over the years ( normally open a bottle and find it very reduced), but at this price Im willing to role the dice,

I had this wine quite a few years ago. Looked very nice back then. “Very Good ++” I wrote better QPR than the 2006 La Landonne tasted alongside it.

That is a great price.

Caramel? (ug)

Just a hint of toffee sweetness in the midpalate that showed up with air when the wine rounded out, great length and great acidity. It all worked

Bacon Fat=Yum! Don’t know about the caramel but thanks for the note as I have a half dozen or so. Have to try one soon.

from Glengarry’s recent Rhone sale ?
