TN: 2006 Ridge Santa Cruz Mountains (USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains)

Changed a lot over a couple hours after a pop 'n pour. Luscious huge berry’s and cassis initially. Tightens up over an hour to an austere expression. A couple hours in really comes together balancing nicely textured dark fruit with a mineral finish. This seems like it’s going to need quite a few years in bottle but is very good. If it’s this good the Monte Bello from 06 must be a knock out.

Found these locally at $35. A bargain. Bought 3 more to let sleep for at least 5 years if not more.

had this with Cris, it changed rapidly over the 3-4 hours . Very tasty…

yes it did…a tasty little bottle if i must say so myself

Yes, big-time knock out. We got a taste at the winery yesterday and it’s developing very well. Needs a lot of time, though.

Has anybody tried the 04 lately? I only have two bottles and don’t want to drink too soon. I had it a couple of years ago at a Ridge dinner but it was waaay young then.

Yup; that’s a great Chard.

Uh…it’s the CHARD you are reflecting on, right???

Just noticed that the vuh-ri-uh-tul isn’t listed anywhere here…we be talkin’ white, right?? [dance-clap.gif]

The SC Mountains is a blend of ‘leftover’ Monte Bello stuff. Some years it qualifies to be labeled as a Cab and some years not. If memory serves the 06 is 55/42/03 - Cab S/Merlot/Petit Verdot.

Yeap, it’s nicknamed “Baby Bello” for reasons Cris pointed out. I just picked up a few of these and a couple 1/2 bottles for now drinking.
