Just a short impression on this one, which I opened last night to get the awful taste of a 2006 Martinelli Giuseppe & Luisa Zin out of my mouth. I’m finishing the rest today while watching football.
This is just what the doctor ordered. Dark garnet in the glass, dark fruit and floral aromatics. In the mouth, this wine delivers tart cherry, forest floor, and some baking spice. This is open for business in that it is in no way tight or tannic. The wine is very well balanced with no hard edges. There is a touch of sweetness on the palate, but not in a bothersome way. This is a very pleasant, straight-forward wine at the moment, and it was a great follow-up to the Martinelli disaster last night.
