TN: 2006 Pierre Damoy Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and 2004 Gemstone G

  • 2006 Pierre Damoy Chambertin-Clos de Bèze - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (6/7/2014)
I see this is only the 2nd TN after Clayfu from a couple years ago. Took to a restaurant and was PnP. Holy moly, this is shut down hard. I’ve had a fair amount of 06 Burgs recently and this is the first that was so unyielding. I asked the waitress for a quick splash decant, but the fruit was hidden behind a tannic curtain and mouth puckering acidity. Didn’t really open after an hour in the decanter. Powered through the bottle, but it wasn’t really that enjoyable. Definitely hold.

Opened at a restaurant. Popped and let it stand for an hour while drinking a Burg. In a great place right now and drank great after an hour of air. Big wine, but balanced. I liked this.

Ha funny. I was thinking about opening the Damoy. Glad I didn’t .
