TN: 2006 Nikolaihof Riesling Federspiel Vom Stein (Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau)

Delicious - I realize that this is not the most descriptive word one could use in a TN, but it’s the first thing that popped into my mind. Brisk acidity frames the fruit, nice persistence on the finish - my better half and I just killed this bottle paired with pork loin in a rosemary/mustard marinade, and the wine was a perfect match for the dish.

Screw-capped.

Nice. As you probably know, 2006 was a bit warmer/riper, interesting that you noted pineapple, which I find in a lot of 06s. I jumped on a case of 2006 Gobelsburg Urgestein at as great price some years ago, and have almost drunk through it. So good, and easy to drink, as you say, delicious. Have a few more various 06s I’m still holding on to, might be time to start looking at those.

That sounds like a good match. Perhaps not my favorite year, but…small qualms. Wish Nikolaihof were a little cheaper though!

Thanks for the note. Lots of 2006s in my cellar. Might dip into a few soon.

Bunch of these on closeout by me for $20. Will have to check in on one again to see how it is. They also have some Nigl Privat Gruner from '06 from same price and that is a monster wine. Little too big for my taste in gruner.
