This is a white that absolutely defies any preconceived ideas about Nuits whites.
2006 Meo Camuzet Haut Cotes du Nuits Blanc Cuvee Philibert
Dense with white fruit. Minerality abounds. A length that is like a great Batard.
This is amazing stuff. Wow! How do they do this with Haut Cotes wine?
I attended a dinner with Jean-Nicolas Meo back in February and this wine was supposed to be served, but there was some issue that prevented it. Seems like I missed a beauty.
There is only one white in the Meo lineup, right? Or at least only one Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc? I think I have the 05 of this wine but never noticed the Clos Saint Philibert designation…
The 05 I had showed a bit too much oak for my tastes, in a sweet caramel/vanilla sort of way, which was a bit of a bummer because the underlying material seemed great. I picked these up for cheap on a whim, so looks like I should try another, I think I bought a 6 pack?
Only from very good producers. Many are too fat or have significant botrytis that makes them strange however.
A little botrytis is a good thing in ripe vintages like 1992 as well as these 2006’s.
My take.
This Meo has cut along with the richness and is VERY clean.
Great stuff.
