    I was in the mood for something “lighter” whateever that means. It had been a while siince i had opened a nice Cru Bojo, so this was it. Pretty ruby color. The wine was tart on opening but kept improving all night as it put on body. Lots of tart cherries with some yeasty notes that gave way to darker cherries and a very slight cola note. Nice balance. Still on the youthful side of maturity but was drinking quite well by the end of the night. At 12.5% Alc, we could finish the whole bottle. (90 pts.)

Just plain yummy. After aerating a few hours, I’ve fooled some tasters (blind) who simply assumed it was Burgundy.

I think the 06 vintage is vastly underrated in Beauj because there was more press hype from the vintages on either side, kind of like in Southern Rhone. Would not surprised to see this make 6-8 more years in a good cellar and drink even more like a Burg over that time.

Good stuff, to be sure. We tasted through a number of vintages with Monsieur Lapierre last summer, and the '06 showed well, even sandwiched between the flashier '07s and '05s. TNs: a day with Marcel Lapierre - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers

I’m a big fan of the Lapierre '06’s…likewise the Foillard

I prefer Foillards Cote de Py '07 to the '06 though…lovely stuff…I’ve got some of his '05 Pi 3.14 tucked away somewhere too

Have you tried any Yvon Metras?
