This was part of a mixed 6-pack of Bourgogne Rouges that I picked up a while back. I am a fan of the 2006 vintage as I am finding most of the wines very aromatic and sappy yet classic in profile. So I was looking forward to trying this.
-2006 Lucien & Auguste Lignier Bourgogne Rouge
At first pour and at cellar temperature, the wine barely gave anything. Slowly but surely, some earthy, high-toned cherries started showing up, with a hint of dry wood. Over the course of a few hours, it barely developped on the nose. The palate was lean, almost offering nothing though it was quite refreshing. Slowly, some sappy cherries and wood came to the party, backed by bright acidity, but falling off on the finish rather quickly. Not bad, it was a bit better with food, but otherwise nothing to get too excited about.
