2006 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast- USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (9/28/2009)
Doctor be damned (as I was told to stay away from Alcohol for a few weeks.) I just needed to open something after fasting for over a day. Unfortunately, this wasn’t what I had hoped it would be. When first popped, I couldn’t really get anything off of it and a sip revealed a finish that seared my throat. Decided to let it sit for an hour or so.
Came back to a wine that was servicable but certainly not fantastic and IMO not worth the tariff. Too big, too candied too much. I’m far from an expert in KB since this is only my 3rd bottle, but seeing as how 2 of the 3 have been much less than stellar, I don’t think I’ll be buying any. I’m glad to at least have found this out before I ‘made the list.’
Had the '06 RRV this weekend and while it was not bad it was not worth buying! Not sure what I used to like about these, they are just to big and over the top!
I’ve had the same impression on these. I have four each of the '06 Sonoma and RRV left. Go figure. But that was my last KB purchase as I have since dropped them from my list.
You drank this after fasting? I am surprised you didn’t keel over drunk off your ass after a single glass of it. KB on an empty stomach = fall down go boom.
Yoni,
Posted on an identical experience with this '06 from a freind’s bottle last weekend. Never bought KB, but had a friend who did. Luckily I got schooled on someone else’s tab
