TN: 2006 Ketcham Estate Pinot Noir Ketcham Vineyard

  • 2006 Ketcham Estate Pinot Noir Ketcham Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (10/4/2009)
14.5% alcohol. This is just drinking beautifully. Cherry color. Fragrant and classic RRV nose of black cherry, baking spice, tea, and minearls. In the mouth, a gorgeous expression of a warmer RRV site. All the beautiful cherry fruit and spice, with earth and floral notes supporting. There is a richness to the mouth feel without being sweet that is attractive. Long finish. A-

Thanks Tom. I have been wondering when to try one and it sounds like it’s time. I like these wines and think they offer great value. It is funny that I prefer the Ketcham to the KB style as it’s the same winemaker. I guess Browne left, but I expect to still have Steve put out killer juice.

Drinking the 07 now. Also awesome.

Nice, Mike … I was going to pop an 07 at some point soon to say hi to it … might just have to do that this weekend.

I think the wines are going to be excellent still even though Michael isn’t making them anymore … they’ve got a handle on their style, I think … good stuff.

It is in a good place right now P-Rob … give it a go.

OK Tom,

I tried one. I get a lot more cranberry and pomegranate with a hint of rhubarb. Plenty of spices and a tea-like trying tannin with abundant sweetness of offset the tart cranberry profile. My one beef, the wine is a bit hot on the finish, otherwise a nice RRV PN.
