TN: 2006 Joseph Swan Vineyards Pinot Noir Trenton View

  • 2006 Joseph Swan Vineyards Pinot Noir Trenton View - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (2/12/2010)
Confused - maybe my buds are maturing as the French lovers would like (not possible). This wine was beautiful in color, a plush mouth of fruit but not overpowering; wonderful acidity, a nose of cherry or strawberry, and an extremely long finish; not as big as many of my more typical Cal-Pinots, but stellar in a different kind of way. Hard to explain but the best way to explain it - luxurious! I bought a mixed case and sad to say this was my only Trenton View. It was great. (95 pts.)

Bruce, I’m not surprised. Trenton from Joseph Swan kills it - every aspect of great winemaking and great results. To me, it’s the best, or easily among the best, that CA has to offer in Pinot Noir - regardless of the vintage.

Now, you SHOULD let some of these age, though, as the reward is even greater!

Todd,
I have three bottles of the Trenton Estate (also '06). I will save those for a while but I assumed they were different (maybe longer in the barrel?). I know I tried them at the winery, but Rod was having us try so much, including barrel samples, I know I confused what I was tasting with what I bought.
