TN: 2006 Joseph Swan Vineyards Pinot Noir Cuvée de Trois

  • 2006 Joseph Swan Vineyards Pinot Noir Cuvée de Trois - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (9/4/2009)
nose: suave and lovely nose of red berries, dark raspberries, tart red fruits, bits of roses and slight hints of ground pepper all wrapped up in a classy little bundle. Rather lithe on the nose and doesn’t attack you with big fruit. While still has the cali fruit to it, there is a restrained and delicate quality that is making it a rather attractive and cool nose

taste: delicate and pretty lighter feel on the palate with smooth tones of raspberries, mixed berries, dark red cherries, fresh picked strawberries, hints of various spice tones, and roses. Good medium acidity to give this a nice spine

overall: what a real pretty bottle of pinot for under 30. Excellent depth for a wine of this level and good acidity. Has a real lovely quality to it along while also bringing the tart cali fruit that one wants when drinking a cali pinot. Very light ruby color along with a pretty finish. The nose right now really makes the wine, and with a slight bit of bottle age, maybe the palate will catch up a slight bit as it could use a bit more fleshing out. While this won’t bring fireworks by any means, this is a pinot drinkers pinot and does a great job of doing what it sets out to do (90 pts.)
