2006 Havens Wine Cellars Syrah - USA, California, Napa Valley (1/24/2010)
This is massive. Blood-dark red in the glass. Sweet aromas of plums, fruit liqueur and smoky meat waft from the glass. In the mouth it’s quite dense and concentrated with deep flavors that tend towards sweet red fruit, some black pepper and a little heat towards the end. Some much needed acidity emerged after about 30 hours after opening. A good foil for heavy grub (bbq ribs). Drink with some breathing time or hold for a year or two further. (88 pts.)
