TN: 2006 Faiveley Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Porêts Saint-Georges

  • 2006 Faiveley Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Porêts Saint-Georges - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru (8/14/2011)
Clear and beautiful ruby red. Decanted an hour before serving. The nose was a beautiful mix of floral perfume and baking spices. Plenty of new oak on this one. Very classy though. The aromatics alone will be something to marvel about as the oak integrates. Medium to full bodied, this was simply beautiful. Red fruit, a touch of fennel and allspice on the mid palate. Soft and effortless mouthfeel. The air certainly eased up the wine, but plenty of strucuture still abounds. This is in great balance, but has a long life ahead. Amazing length, and a very cool dose of minerality on the finish.

Yeah, way too young, but just had to peek in on one of these. Drank it with a variety of foods and this, plus the decant really brought out the elegance. Simply great.
