2006 Domaine Dujac Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru (4/9/2011)
This was very good. The nose was rather tight, showing some funky soild notes and a whiff of sweet cherries but nothing much in the way of complexity. The palate was really solid though. After the sweet fruit on the nose, it had a surprisingly savoury backdrop, not quite meaty, not earthy either, more umami-ish. This was a very nice counterpoint to the still primary sweet dark fruit and black cherry flavours that spread across the palate on a bed of melting tannins and beautifully fresheness. The zippy acidity laced the wine all the way into the long, detailed finish which filled the mouth with fresh fruit notes. There was a really good sense of structrue all around that bodes very well for the wine’s future. Excellent stuff. (93 pts.)
