2006 Domaine des Sénéchaux Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (2/17/2010)
I liked this a bit better on the second night when some mint notes came out on the nose and the fruit expressed itself a bit louder with some baked aromas. The palate shows generous fruit but not too big, a gentle balance with the finish really seeming lively and complex with building acidity. Very slight heat on the back end and very light tannin but pretty good length. I liked this for something in between a rustic lean old style and a modern fruit forward wine. Definitely delivers at $27. Probably best in 2-3 more years but not one to sock away in the cellar.
