TN: 2006 Clarendon Hills Syrah Baker's Gully

  • 2006 Clarendon Hills Syrah Baker’s Gully - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Clarendon (8/26/2013)
Splash decanted and let sit for 2 hours. Muted nose with some light earthiness in the aroma. Flavors of dark berries which linger on the finish. Very slight heat on the back end. Would appear to have several more years to integrate, but drinking well now. Overall, a nice syrah. (92 pts.)

Really enjoyed a 2003 a few years back. Have one more laying down that I should probably drink fairly soon.

It seems like the distributor is blowing out the 2006 Clarendon in record numbers.
I have been seeing many on various sites. Interesting how that don’t use the term Shiraz.

Yes, they’ve had a lot of the 2006 on the market all year. Interesting that you can’t get any other vintages easily. The wine maker is a big fan of French wines ergo the use of “syrah”. This wine was good but the 2006 Brookman Cabernet is even better, an outstanding wine IMO. Worth checking out.
