2006 Carlisle Syrah Cardiac Hill - USA, California, Sonoma County, Bennett Valley (1/28/2010)
Medium dark ruby. Menthol and black fruit aromas. Complex and concentrated flavors of blackberries, blueberries, smoke, pepper and oriental spice. Lingering aftertaste. Good balance and excellent mouthfeel. A very enjoyable wine with just a tad lacking in the mid-palate. The structure calls for more age. My last bottle - if I had more I’d keep for at least another year. (90 pts.)

Thanks for the note, Mike. Agree about the menthol. I had this during a Jemrose dinner with Jim Mack this past November and all the Cardiacs in the flight were blind–we knew the producers oin the flight (Shane, Jemrose and Carlisle) but not the order. I guessed the Carlisle as Shane, given the menthol and ore, plus the structure but by god it was Mike’s wine. Humility of blind tasting.
Agree on that. Quite a difference in the wines, though they were all from the same vineyard. I don’t think I had one right answer at the end of the flight.
They all deserve a spot in the cellar.
