2006 August West Pinot Noir Graham Family Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (9/12/2009)
Another wine popped and poured. Just one glass enjoyed while USC was struggling against The Ohio State University…before of course, The Drive.
Interesting wine for me and much more earthy than I remember my last bottle. Still that rich, sweet CA red fruit (strawberry/red cherries) with a distinct earth, spice and mushroom compote component. Almost a bit burgundian in its earthiness but with CA richness. Decent acidity for the vintage to keep a little lift in the wine. Very nice and very good for what is turning out to me to be a very early drinking vintage…for most producers.
DISCLAIMER: Ed and I are good friends who are attempting to discover the best pizza in the Bay Area…one pizza at a time. (90 pts.)
