TN: 2006 Albert Boxler Riesling Brand (France, Alsace, Turckheim, Alsace Grand Cru AOC)

I’ve really been hammering through a fair amount of Rieslings as of late, and I’ve came to a satisfying conclusion: when push comes to shove, I simply adore Alsatian Riesling and wines like this are the reason why. It’s that picture perfect marriage of dry, salivating acidity married with that oh so skillful and gentle touch of rich r.s that trully makes the experience take on a third dimension. You really had to work the nose, but when aggressively prodded, the fiery Brand terroir was in fine form indeed. Initially very dry in the mouth, but as soon as your tongue had adjusted to the paper cup sharp acidity, a balloon of rich yellow plums and spice lifts the palate into a sensual delight. Still young of coarse, but this will be a real gem of a wine in another 4 to 6 years. Purchased locally for $29 and I am definitely going back for more. I’d love to compare this side by side with a ZH Brand, would make a hell of a tasting. (92 pts.)
