2005 Turley Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena (2/5/2010)
I took a break from syrah for a day to check out the somewhat maligned '05 Turley Hayne. Medium-dark ruby red. Moderately expressive, but pleasing red fruit aromas. A very pleasant palate impression of strawberries, cherry and rasberries. Moderate fruit concentration. Vibrant and moderately rich with a good mouthfeel. More femine, in the Scherrer mold. The aftertaste lingers for the better part of a minute. For me this is a worthy and impressive wine. Not the usual Turley Razzle-dazzle, but very enjoyable. Loved the red fruit. Not all Turely’s work well with food, but this one will. (89 pts.)
