2005 Switchback Ridge Merlot Peterson Family Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley (8/5/2009)
Nicely balanced wine, plenty of mocha and dark fruits…although could stand a bit more fruit and a bit less mocha. Not really getting too much on the nose, but no doubt this wine has a lovely mouthfeel. I’m giving it the rating since its well made, is pretty good, but I’m continuing to think I’m just not wow’d by New World Merlot. I’m enjoying it and its its hard to think there are those that will absolutely love this, but if this had a bit less oak and more structure it would be alot better. (91 pts.)
