TN: 2005 Pierre Gaillard St. Joseph Cuvée Unique Côte Belley

  • 2005 Pierre Gaillard St. Joseph Cuvée Unique Côte Belley - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph (10/23/2011)
Wonderful, expressive, nose of fresh strawberries, fennel, sous bois & a hint of chicory. After some time, there’s some smokiness on the nose too. Juicy, fresh & lively on the palate, tangy red fruits, & minerals, just a little meaty. Light to medium weight but decent concentration, good acidity, some length, not too much depth, but really juicy, long finish. Not a wine with a lot of structure or depth for aging, but drinking very nicely now. Really enjoyed this with grilled rib-eye, fries & broccoli rabe. (92 pts.)
