2005 Peay Vineyards Syrah Les Titans - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (6/8/2010)
From a half bottle, this has just a little interesting funk on the nose, with some olive and a background of crushed berries, then a wash of deep, intense boysenberry/pomegranate fruit, piercing acidity, restrained in its ripeness level while having no lack of dept and flavor concentration. Finish could be a bit longer, but overall this is just a fantastic syrah in the cool climate style. I doubt this would be picked out in a lineup of quality Cote Rotie wines, has a lot in common with the 05 Ogier (maybe a bit less oak). (94 pts.)

Impressive. Have you tried the 05 La Bruma lately?

I did a couple of weeks ago and it was wonderful, one of the better syrahs I’ve had all year. Perfectly balanced with great fruit and an earthy finish. I think it is ready to go, but certainly isn’t going downhill any time soon.
