TN: 2005 Niepoort Porto Late Bottled Vintage (Portugal, Douro, Porto)

    Dark purple. Tasted over four days. Nose showed purple and black fruit. Full bodied. Plenty of plum and raisin notes with a hint of root beer. High acidity cuts through the blast of fruit. Sweet flavors to be sure, but fruity rather than cloying. Long finish with some firm tannins.

Nice wine which felt more like a table wine than dessert/fortified.

My TN on this wine comes out next week. I can say that Dirk is very proud of his Vintage Port from 2005, calling it his best ever. I assume he thinks similarly about his LBV too, but I’m just surmising this latter point.
