2005 Mount Eden Vineyards Pinot Noir Saratoga Cuvée - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (7/2/2009)
I had this wine over two nights. While good on night one, it was better on the second night. The nose had notes of cherry, cranberry, resin, flour, and some indeterminate spice. It reminded me a bit of some of the RRV pinots I’ve had. On the palate, the wine had just a bit more weight than the nose would suggest. Not heavy and unpleasant, more of a needing time to unwind type heavy. Nice acidity that provide balance to the fruit and suggests the wine will improve over time. Just a bit of tannin on the finish, which is not something I normally pick up in most pinots – perhaps suggesting longevity?

I posted a night 1 note on the 2006 Saratoga Cuvee Pinot thread, but night two was better and I thought it deserved its own thread.
