2005 Linne Calodo Problem Child - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (1/19/2010)
This wine is on my short list of “epiphany” wines – this wine demonstrated a whole new range of flavors and style with an amazingly elegant take on Zinfandel and a rich, complex wine on the midpalate that lingered on and on for an incredible finish. Elegant, yet spicy, fruity, yet earthy… incredible… I really think that the US should look for more Zin-based blends to create their own"Southern Rhone" wines. Wow. (97 pts.)

while I do heartily enjoy what many USA wineries are doing with the traditional Rhone varieties, I really wish more would also follow your suggestion above. Of the few rhone-zin blends I’ve had, most have been very good to excellent. I agree there is a lot of untapped potential here.
Steve,
Do you know what the blend is on this one?
71% Zin, 17% Syrah and 12% Mourvedre
Got to barrel taste from a half dozen different 08 Problem Child’s and it looks to be another excellent vintage…
and… just drank the 03 two nights ago and it is in a beautiful spot now (unlike the 03 Cherry)
Brett, are these co-fermented or are they put together post fermentation.
IIRC, they are put together post-fermentation
Good timing. Just got a email the 08 is going out in Feb.
