TN: 2005 La Crema Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast (USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast)

Drinking very well about now with good depth of flavor and an undefinable something that said Sonoma Coast. Color was pretty but not opaque, speaking to its Pinot Noirness, and cherry aromas in the nose led to flavors with a bit of toasty oak and earth, and nice depth. A very pleasant wine with dinner of ham infused pea soup and garden veggies. My wife says it was very rich, and meaty, with lots of depth, pretty balanced, and ready to drink. I agree. Great note. I’ve been a fan of these wines for a while. Always pick them up from time to time from the local grocery store. The 07 I think is the best yet. Tremendous QPR.

I purchased this a few times, strictly because it was the only 375 i could find on short notice. Was very very surprised. Much better then the mass produced genericness that i thought it was. Sometimes being wrong is fun…

Grape Radio interviewed the winemaker Melissa Stackhouse recently and her no nonsense approach and thoughtfulness about terroir appealed to me. A big producer, yes, but a careful one I’d say. Jim

Their 05 Anderson Valley is also really great.
