TN: 2005 J & HA Strub Niersteiner Paterberg Riesling Spätlese ***

**2005 J & HA Strub Niersteiner Paterberg Riesling Spätlese ***** - Germany, Rheinhessen (8/16/2018)
This bottling continues its long and positive evolution under screw cap. It’s on an early peak, with lots of fruit (peach, pineapple) accompanied by spice, vanilla and honey accents. It’s very rich, but has a finishing acidity that keeps it clean. This is not the most terroir driven wine, but the Paterberg isn’t known as a top site. It just gives delicious wines in the hands of a family that knows the land. Moving along very well at this stage, with many more years ahead of it.

Recently had the 2001 of this…it’s a rockstar!

Yep. The 2005 is at the same level.

I still have 1 bottle of the 2001. Advise on when to open?

Any time. It’s good to go.
