The 2000 Cuvee Jean Gautreau showed dark fruits and immediate leather, cigar and mushroom. Very tertiary, tasted in 2024 I believe. Very big and needed a steak but I honestly didn’t feel like getting up at that moment!

Just had this wine again with a wonderful lamb chop dish. I was thinking about what I wanted to say, jumped on the site to check out the last notes, and found my own, lol. And pretty much what I wanted to say. And clearly more coherent than I am now. Or buzzed. This wine is excellent but still young. I’d probably give it another 3-5 years. It is fleshing out nicely, however. Like an old Togni Cab, has a very pungent nose of ripe bell pepper, wet earth and dark fruit and bramble. Big co…
