2005 Domaine Monpertuis (Paul Jeune) Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Tradition - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (11/7/2009)
Decanted two hours, enjoyed over a dinner of grilled lamb chops served with roasted potatoes and carrots. This has all of the elements of a classic Châteauneuf, baking spices, ripe cherries, herbs de Provence, a bit of funk, earthiness. Such a youthful wine at this stage, like observing a gifted toddler who you know is going to do great things over time. Give this one years to develop and enjoy its charms.
