2005 Domaine Alfred Pinot Noir Chamisal Vineyards - USA, California, Central Coast, Edna Valley (1/11/2009)
Lovely aromas of ripe black cherries, black raspberries, Asian spices and a touch of orange peel. Light on the palate with notes of underripe cherries and white pepper. Asian spices and whole cluster stem complete the rather short finish. While fine with food, this wine seems to lack some depth and interest on the palate. 86-87 points. (86 pts.)
Saw these on clearance at BevMo for $20 or $25… I might have bought a few if I wasn’t already swimming in Pinot, but it doesn’t sound like I missed much.
this producer hit a high point with their 2004s, but their 2005s were pretty lackluster. last i heard, the owner sold the winery, so what you found at bevmo might have been an effort to liquidate inventory.
