2005 Copain Syrah James Berry Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (1/22/2010)
Opened for about 45 minutes before tasting. Dark ruby red. The nose is quite expressive and very appealing, more so than the '04 tasted yesterday. Blackberries and black cherries on the palate with hints of cassis, smoke and a little pepper. Lingering aftertaste. This one displayes concentrated fruit, but is well balanced and lively on the palate. Very nice mouthfeel.
A superior wine. I’m very happy that I have some of these remaining as well as 06 and 07 on order. (93 pts.)
