TN: 2005 Chasseur Pinot Noir Freestone Station

  • 2005 Chasseur Pinot Noir Freestone Station - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (12/14/2009)
Definitely a bolder styled Pinot Noir, but quite lovely. A vibrant nose of black and red fruits, bit of cherry cola, roses, and some chalk dust (the aroma of chalk dust). Nice acidity on the palate, a bit high on the alcohol, however. More dark fruits, berries, and some oak still showing through - I’m sure this could integrate better (the oak) over time, but it’s not invasive or overdone, really - just clearly present. Finish fades quickly, but does linger on for a while. I’d like if the finish carried a bit of the sweetness from the palate with it, but it does not. Still, a very nice SVD from Chasseur. (91 pts.)

You are on a roll, what is it a bottle a night? Making room in the cellar for all the new shipments? How much did this Pinot cost?

You got it, Kimberly!

Trying to keep my boing-on!

This was $48 from their former wine club, and I think about $60 outside that.
