TN: 2005 Bosquet des Papes Chante le Merle

There is something here that is special.
Pure.
Balanced.
That bright Bing cherry fruit not unlike Rayas.

2005 Bosquet des Papes Chante le Merle

Nice red color. A vibrant nose of cherry fruit and some spice. Pepper.
The palate is just glorious. Velvety and seductive. Great bright cherry fruit. Pepper. Some element of Provencal spice. A long and satisfying finish. Very fresh too.

This is incredible and what I wished more of the 07’s had… balance.

But Don, all 2005’s are hard and tannic and doomed to end up like the 1995’s … so says Bob…

(FWIW, I have loved a lot of 2005’s!)

Eric,
Bob has a pretty good track record but this one is just sublime.
Not a hard edge to be found.
Happy Holidays to you.
Thanks for taking care of all of my friends with Cellartracker. (and me too)

I’m a fan of the 2005 and other vintages. They don’t age as well as many other CdPs so my recommendation is drink in the first ten years or so.

Really? I think the 98 has improved much in the last few years, and I am not a huge advocate of 98 (good, but too blousy to be my preference). I’ll have to check in on the 98 Bos ClM again.
