2005 Betz Family Syrah Chapitre 3 - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (7/28/2018)
P&P but the wine did see about 20 minutes of air in the glass before I dug in. I had been wanting to try this for quite some time, being the first reserve wine Betz has ever made and my only taste was a small glass in 2007(is). Absolutely terrific Syrah, this carriers the trade mark Betz signature of dark blackberry fruit off set by a tarry quality that makes it quite irresistible to drink. Polished yes, the wood has perfectly integrated with the sizeable raw material – some meaty things going on in the back half , and very respectable finish. I have one left and I don’t see any reason why this wine won’t be shining on its 20th birthday. (94 pts.)
