TN: 2005 Andrea Oberto Barolo (Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo)

Been wanting to try a bottle of this for a while. I really enjoyed it. Lots of tannin, but open for business.

Let’s get this out of the way–there are gripping tannins since this is a young Nebbiolo. A cheese plate or a meal is needed. The nose is leathery, spicey and red fruit driven, somewhat rustic funkdafied. Probably a bit of Brett here in a good way. Med/full bodied with sweet fruit on the palate. Finishes tannic with herbal spice. A lot going on for the price point. (90 pts.)
