TN: 2004 Sequoia Grove Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Bench Reserve

  • 2004 Sequoia Grove Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Bench Reserve - USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford (1/1/2014)
A complicated nose of sassafras and black currants. Palate shows some nice delineation of pure Cab characters with a large portion reserved for the dark and pure black fruit profile. Cassis and blackberries are foremost with slight notes of worn rubbed leather, tea leaf and cola. The mouth feel is soft and pillow-like & somewhat lilty but make no mistake, this is no lightweight. I also get a feel that tannins still have life, but I think these should be consumed over the next few years unless you enjoy the more secondary or tertiary notes in your wine. Overall balance is quite nice and finish long. A very nice wine indeed. (90 pts.)

Sequoia Grove was my go-to Cab back in the 90s. Very consistent year in, year out. Nice to hear they’re still brining it. Thanks for sharing the TN; Makes me want to pick up a few…

I just got a bunch of the 2010 in my club shipment. Very happy.
