TN: 2004 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

  • 2004 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (6/5/2021)
I know, what kinda nut hangs on to a humble Sonoma Coast for this long? Wasn’t my intent, it got buried! Am I sorry? Well, no! Amazingly, this is still plenty alive. Cork came out great with just a waiters cork screw. There is just a bit of bricking at the edge, but barely. Great nose right off the bat, with loads of cranberry, a touch of orange peel, red cherries, and earth. Very fine on the palate, with fully resolved tannins, great acidity, bright red fruit, and muted spice notes. Drink now!

Before my time but I’m pretty sure this was 100% Gioia Vineyard declassified as SC.

Had an ‘06 recently that was fantastic. I don’t think my ‘18s will make it to 2033, I popped one of those last weekend.
