2004 Loring Wine Company Pinot Noir Clos Pepe Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills - Sta. Rita Hills (12/21/2009)
Started off with a funky nose that changed over time. Like other 04’s this seems to turn from a fruitier wine in its youth to an austere bigger thingnow. Nice earthy components and on this the second day, some serious raspberry jam on the back end of the mouth. Not sweet at all thoug, just a lingering taste that is quite pleasurable to me and befitting of the grape, this wine can still drink well for awhile more, but I do not anticipate serious changes at this point. Enjoy it this winter with fruit, nuts and cheese or as a starter before hitting the Cabernet and the roasted meats. Nicely done and we enjoyed. (89 pts.)
