2004 Groth Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville (3/24/2012)
P&P. Dark crimson with slight lightening around the edges. Spices and chocolate covered cherries are prominent on the nose, while cedar, and fresh baked cake peek out. Thinner bodied, the palate is spicy with a good amount of oak. Slight green notes are present but not terribly distracting. Underneath all that is some good dark berry flavors, leather, with drying tannins and a hot finish. This wine just doesn’t pull it all together. 88 (88 pts.)
