TN: 2004 Dom Perignon

At Morcilla.

This is not my favorite vintage of DP but it showed pretty well tonight. Fairly sparse mousse and bead compared to the 06/09, nice bouquet of brioche and lemon zest on the nose. The palate was light with crisp acidity, but lacked the opulence of the 09 or focus of the 06. Finish was nice if a bit short. This is probably my least favorite DP from the past decade but it was still very enjoyable, and paired perfectly with tapas.

I loved my bottles of this. Tried to buy more but was directed to the 2009. I had the 2004 with my daughter at a memorable dinner around a year ago, and the event plus the wine put the 2004 high in my memory list. The kids had never had anything like it (25 years old).

The longer I am in the wine business, the less I pay attention to the descriptors of wines other than mine. The wines take on significance from the company and the event.
