TN: 2003 (Symington) Altano Reserva (Douro, Portugal)

5/5/2009
– decanted for 1 hour before tasting over the next 5 hours –
– tasted non-blind –
– 70% Touriga Franca, 30% Touriga Nacional –

NOSE: not very expressive: light leather, some boysenberry and black cherry; some deep flroas and hints of smoke, raisin, and oak. Smells like this is going to be watery.

BODY: lots of fine particulate matter; magenta-ruby color of medium depth; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: light and non-descript dar fruits – plums and black cherry; hints of black licorice and smoke; medium-short finish (20-30 sec.); hole at rear palate; a tad on the acidic side; either slightly corked or extremely tight … I’m going with “extremely tight,” as I didn’t get any overt taint indicators.
