2003 Stolpman Nebbiolo - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley (5/29/2010)
For the money, this was a home run. Strawberry and some raspberry with well integrated sweet tannins. Blind, I could have guessed Pinot. The extra bottle age made this a great food wine. (93 pts.)

Thanks for this note, I’ve been very curious about the Nebbiolo from them. Sounds like a fantastic bottle.
Tim-
It was a great surprise. Forgot I even had it until I clicked Time to Drink in CT. Defininitely a great QPR.
Uhhhhhhhh…sorry to tell you this, Rich, but certain critics have declared Nebbiolo a failure in Calif. It couldn’t be as good as you claim. ![[stirthepothal.gif] [stirthepothal.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/f/f40faec63ca1018898a40805efbf9f0066a3d205.gif)
Alas, I don’t think Stolpman is making Nebb anymore and they grafted over most of their vines. A tiny bit still goes to AdamLee/Novy.
Not too surprised this Nebb evolved into something pretty interesting. SashiMoorman is a very good winemaker. And I believe at this point they
had EnzoCotarello onboard as a consultant.
Despite the nay-sayers, Nebbiolo is a variety to watch in Calif.
Thanks for the note, Rich.
