Popped and poured. Opaque deep reddish purple color. This is one flamboyant, saucy little hussy of a Pinot. Full throttle, peddle to the metal dark fruit: bing cherry and black plum. Ripe, but not over extracted. 13.8% abv, but no trace of heat. Minimal acidity and moderate finish. Not my typical style of Pinot; however, this is a fun, hedonistic slurper. Drink now. I wouldn’t expect this to improve and once the fruit starts to fade, the joy ride is over.
Thanks for the note - I quite like the Sineann PN’s - even though they are far from traditional Pinot noir. I need to look how far back mine go and drink the little bit older ones (though I don’t think I’m holding anything prior to 2002).
I actually think their wines age well, better than you might think given their fruit forward style on release. I will be poppoing a 99 R&R later this month, so we will see. 03 was a quicker drinking vintage though, that’s for sure.
Just to clarify, I wasn’t implying that Sineann’s, in general, don’t age well. I was simply commenting on this specific wine/bottle. Being an '03 and based on the tasting, I don’t see any future improvement potential for this wine. Thus, the drink now suggestion. I honestly have no idea how long the fruit may last. However, as long as it does, this will be a fun drink.
