Cracked this to accompany a fennel seed crusted pork tenderloin with sauteed spinach and roasted sweet potatoes.
I liked this much better than the 03 Walker Vine Hill Syrah I opened from Pax a week ago or so. Richly fruited, with notes of tar and licorice and an under current of something a little green and iodine. The finish is a bit rough and chewy though which contrasts from the lush and somewhat silky front and mid palate…still pretty darn good and decent complexity compared to the Walker VH. 91/100
