Dark purple and opaque. No bricking present. Upon opening, a typical nose of Napa Valley Cab, dominated by dark red and black fruit. After 1 hr. decant, tannins continue to present themselves. Nose of black cherry, cassis. Two hours of air revealed a lush wine with tannins far more resolved as compared to the first hour. This wine is not over the top nor boring. Extremely smooth front and mid-palate with a finish of 30+ seconds on the end palate. This wine is a very pleasant drink in the $50.00 price range and holds it’s own against many wines that sell for 5 x as much. (92 pts.)
Nice note. This was one of my favorite cabs of the vintage.
Your note says “no bricking”. Do you see bricking in wines this young?

I’m also curious as to why you might look for bricking. Regarding your notes:
I can find plenty of $25 Napa wines that bring black cherry and cassis. I’m struggling to find something distinctive about this wine. And I’m sure that’s more my fault than yours, considering we nearly stopped at this producer this past weekend. I’ve heard very good things.
Thanks for the note. Reminds me I have a couple of these left in my cellar. hmmm…the 07 mailer should be around the corner as well.
