TN: 2003 Bodega Catena Zapata Nicolás Catena Zapata (Argentina, Mendoza)

I have un-systematically tasted through a bunch of a fair amount of the high-end releases from Argentina and Chile (usually loathing them), but this wine really stroked a sweet spot with a harmony between classicism and nouveau.

Dark color with a nice glow to it. Deep nose with violets, dust, ink and slight edges of smoke/oak. Light on the palate with a really pretty midrange of dust, drawn fruits and pepper. Nice dry on the finish with ink/industrial notes. A nice interplay of elements and an elegant structure. Had a nice unique cut to it and really enjoyable.

Thanks for the note. Been sitting on some of the 04’s and just placed an order for a three pack of the 99’s. Eagerly waiting their arrival so I can pop one.
