I have un-systematically tasted through a bunch of a fair amount of the high-end releases from Argentina and Chile (usually loathing them), but this wine really stroked a sweet spot with a harmony between classicism and nouveau.

2003 Bodega Catena Zapata Nicolás Catena Zapata - Argentina, Mendoza (12/19/2009)
Dark color with a nice glow to it. Deep nose with violets, dust, ink and slight edges of smoke/oak. Light on the palate with a really pretty midrange of dust, drawn fruits and pepper. Nice dry on the finish with ink/industrial notes. A nice interplay of elements and an elegant structure. Had a nice unique cut to it and really enjoyable.
