TN: 2002 Schrader Vieux-Os Ira Carter Vineyard Zinfandel

Reddish brown in color with candied nose of cherries and spice. On the palate this is hanging on…but barely. Baked red fruits, cherry jolly ranchers, and a short bitter finish. A surprising splash of acidity keeps this enjoyable enough to finish the glass, but it’s definitely not getting any better…and probably never that great to begin with. If Thomas Rivers Brown had a trophy room for the wines he’s made, I’m pretty sure this one would not make the cut.

Side note…I’m sure many will not…but I actually dig the funky bottle.
